Cataire Screening Technical Information
Types of windows and screen assembly:
There are many types of windows but the majority fall into the following categories.
- Inward Opening: With these windows the screens must be fitted on the outside using the turn button fixing method.
- Vertical or Horizontal sliding: With all types of sliding windows the screen may be fixed inside or outside.
- Wood framed: You may use any of the fixing methods supplied.
- U.P.V.C: The fixing principle is the same as that for wooden window frames. You can still drill and screw into the U.P.V.C. but you could invalidate your guarantee. You may prefer to use the Self Adhesive Velcro or the channels rather than fixing into the frames.
- Aluminium Framed: It is best not to fix into the aluminium itself. You may prefer to use the Self Adhesive Velcro or channels rather than fixing into the frames. However, the majority of this type of frame is set within wooden sub-frames and the fixing principle is the same as that for wooden window frames.
- Secondary Glazing: If you have secondary glazing running in channels, then you can simply insert one of our screens into the opening between the top and bottom channels and slide one of your windows against it to trap it into place. We have found that our screens fit into the majority of secondary glazing channels.
